First Snow

It'sbeen about time - here it is: the first snow this winter 2014/2015. Five centimeters of white water call for some trailbusting. So we went for a ride and really and deeply enjoyed it.

Michelberg

Sounds like something - is something, but then not really liked by my friends. So whenever I suggest a ride to the Michelberg, they come up with a thousand reasons for not doing it. Yes, there are some biking issues in its area, and yes, there are no challenging downhills and yes, the ride is prone to adverse winds, but then it offers some wide views, a tough to ride swampy meadow, and a station along the ride with a cool glass of white wine (for pedalling power!!!).
And sometimes I do not discuss all of the above and ride alone; and there's always so much to see when you ride with eyes and mind wide open.

The Endless Autumn

Now that November seems to not introduce winter and probably December will follow suit we can focus on the really important things: riding , riding, riding!!! The seemingly endless autumn offers superb trails, wet in places, muddy in sections, coldish in the breezes. And then the loneliness in the adventure - riding a new trail because you lost your way. The balance between taking the risk and relaxing in the moves. I love these rides, the solitude, the temperatures and the views -hasta la vista on los senderos silvestres y alpinos!!!

November Sun

After a short break of roughly 14 days I'm again on the bike. Setting out at a relaxed speed there was plenty of time to enjoy the sun dissolving the mist, to enjoy the slippery trails hidden under a colourful carpet of leaves and to enjoy the spectacular vistas in a spot I call 'My little Canada'. Muddy ruts, vicious branches and thornful rasberry twines clawing at my legs all add to the special experience, November rides stand for. Wouldn't want to miss them - but see for yourselves:

Contingency Plan

The weather currently is abominable. The liters of rain make our mud trails unrideable. So this Sunday won't see us on trails - for sure! which is a pity, but then we filmed a bit last Sunday. So for my friends and who else is interested: Enjoy a Sunday morning ride on your computers. Keeps you dry and your mind sane:       SUNDAY MORNING RIDE

Riding home

Every now and then I ride to school on my MTB and back home again which sometimes ends in a night ride. Which is a pleasant thing once you've overcome the creepy anxieties of riding in the dark woods, but then you just have to realise you are probably the top predator in this area. Enjoy the little video about this ride.

RIDING HOME

The Challenge is Alive, But hard to overcome!

I started bang on time and within 10 minutes I was stuck in deep mud andwith more dirt than I could chew. An hour later I missed a chance to clean the bike thoroughly, something that should later turn out as a serious mistake. Three hours in the challenge I tried to save my brakes by exchanging brake pads rear to front. Then I was rolling fast - too fast. Late in the afternoon it got hot an thundry. Well somehow I ended up, pretty exhausted and done in Mistelbach. That's where I pulled the plug - to fight the Weinviertel Trail Challenge some other day.
So I stopped after a hard ride of 161 km and 1750 m altitude.

Gipfeltreffen

Die Ernstbrunner sind starke Radlfahrer/MTBiker. Daher ist ein Treffen mit ihnen (sie sind immer viele) ein besonderes Ereignis. Wieder einmal passiert am letzten Sonntag oben auf dem Buschberg. Ein herzliches Treffen unter Freunden - danach ebenfalls herzlich gemeinsam durch den Wald nach Grafensulz - High Speed unter Freunden - ein echtes Vergnügen!

Meeting friends on the top of a mountain/hill/molehill is excellent fun - and happened last Sunday. Nice to have ridden with you for some miles!

Summer Approaching

May was poor; a little illness and bad weather that keeps you off the bike when you don't feel like doing much anyway.
June has significantly improvedand finds me riding more frequently and longer distances and hours.

Father and Son

Great ride again - doing the well-known trails can be boring, but then it's all a question of one's company. Doing a well-known and well-ridden trail in the company of my son was a really rewarding experience. This is what only coincides every now and then - so it's fine, great and like a brand-new trail (at least for the father!). It led to some video coverage, so enjoy:
