Jungle Trails in the Weinviertel

Fact 1: we haven' got any jungle here!
Fact 2: you follow the trails of deer and boars through our woods and occaisonally you end up in immensively thick green - which occasionally is fun, rideable in places, pushable  and carryable in any case.
Fact 3: you like it or not, our spiders don't kill and cobwebs and else don't hurt.
Fact 4: sometimes you discover a fine trails - and that's a turnup for a book in an area you know as well as your trouser's pockets.

Buschberg forever

Again and again, being the only bigger molehill in our riding habitat we ride it over and over again; but then we don't care as it's still fun!

30 Days Challenge

Now let the sun come in

We found a few specs of snow -of last remnents of snow for sure. It still was miserably wet and cool last Sunday. Now as I write this post the sun has been shining this afternoon and I could imagine spring. But I have to get the last snowy pics out of my memory, so now they are your business, right?!.

Winter prolonged

Well, cold again. Today we had some -4°C for starters - COOL :-) The wind is stiff north, so we are far from the southern winds that help you lift and spread your wings. But these days are perfect for training: they teach you overcome adversities. Pedal against the wind, lose the feel for your toes and finger tips no matter what gear you are sporting. But then appreciate the immediate warmth when you turn back or enter some protecting forest path. Nature can make you humble, although I guess that#s not Nature's intent, maybe it man's hybris to expect better than normal conditions.

Essence: the weather is what it is and will be so for the future; and that's a good thing. It makes things different from last time around. And there's some reward in rides in harsh weather conditions: it may brighten up later!

Some Sun for a Change

Well - Malta again, and again a ride with this excellent bunch of Maltese MTB-riders, a very enthusiastic crowd who do not shy any conditions. Well the weather was fine, the trails in some parts muddy as can be - clay and reeds - you better build walls with it, but not plaster it on your chains, derailleurs and gear. It immediately caused some serious damage with broken derailleurs. Sorry guys for this mischief.
Finally I ended up with a group of energetic youngsters whose speed was quite exhausting. A number of scenic pics, sun, thrilling trails and friendly company make for a perfect MTB-experience on the naturally beautiful Gozo island. And finally the best pizza (Gozitan style) ever from a bakery in in-Nadur - what a treat!

Thanks guys, it was awesome!!!
